We have decided to launch a regular podcast called ‘The Good, the Bad and the Ugly’ which will feature all manner of weird, cool, funky, whack and downright cool tracks, most of which we could never play at our club nights. Over the years we have done many radio shows and podcasts where some of our collection gets a good airing. From our other ‘show’ called VS (check it out here) to a variety of weird late night community radio shows in Sydney, we love the chance to be released from our dance, dance, dance mantra and just play what we love. So, that’s it really. A show full of that stuff. It will be pretty wide ranging. French, Spanish, Italian, German, Belgian, plus the rest of the continent. It will feature Yé–yé (of course!) plus psych, prog, rock, covers, Italian soundtracks, moog, freakbeat, garage and we might even play a bit of Eurovision. Yes, we said it. France Gall and Serge Gainsbourg won it. So it is cool. End of that debate.
We will put a show every month or so. They won’t be long. Just 30 minutes of prime cool. We would love to invite some guest DJs to the party. We would also love to play your party/club/venue/bar. You know how to contact us.
It is June 2022 and its winter here in Australia, summer in Europe and it seems like going home will be less than time than I have been away. I think thats cause for a celebration. We kick off this exploration of French and Euro bangers by going deep into the collection. Some of these […]
Let’s hear it for the Homme. Welcome to another edition of the Good, the Bad and the Ugly, brought to you by your Babypop crew of lockdown beat freaks. Would you believe that we have now hit 30 shows of this fine podcast? So much vinyl, so many bangers and so little Kurac and SCSI-b. On this show we cut swathes across the sixties (and early seventies) by crashing the party with double Dutronc. The first comes from his 1972 LP and the second […]
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly never stops, never locks down, but stays safe within the beat empire of the classic, swinging French and Euro sixties. Your Babypop crew is pro-vax, anti-virus and wants to get back to dancing in public to the prerecorded sounds of the likes of Vartan, Dutronc, Gainsbourg et al. […]

Welcome to the next tranche of French, Euro (and Japanese) bangers we have unearthed for you. This time we recognise the crate digging talents of one of our regular record dealers in France who persisted in sending me a giant package of records from his home to mine, before having Australia Post send it right […]
